3 K-drama Shows To Watch On Chorki

By MWB Desk

Shankha Dasgupta’s Guti might be one of the shows headlining on Chorki, but the grim subject matter is definitely the stuff of nightmares. Luckily, the OTT platform also offers fluffy escapist fantasies in the form of k-drama that act as an antidote. The best part? You won’t have to switch to another platform.

I AM NOT A ROBOT

Written by Kim Sun-mi, directed by Jung Dae-yoon, and starring Yoo Seung-ho, Chae Soo-bin, and Um Ki-joon, I am not a Robot is about a young man who suffers from a dangerous allergy that limits his interactions with people, whose life changes when he meets an aspiring entrepreneur who pretends to be a robot for her boyfriend.

The show has received many positive reviews from seasoned k-drama fans because of the refreshing plot and chemistry between the leads, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re new to the genre.

THE RED SLEEVE

Directed by Jung Ji-in and Song Yeon-hwa, and starring Lee Jun-ho, Lee Se-young, and Kang Hoon this is a period drama that records a royal court romance between the King of Joseon who believes his duty is to his country first above love, and a court lady who wants to protect the life she has chosen.

Adapted from a novel The Red Sleeve Cuff by Kang Mi-kang, the show is based on historical facts and the series religiously followed closely to the historical events and did not derail it to cater to the satisfaction of the audience.

WEIGHTLIFTING FAAIRY KIM BOK JOO

This one comes up in a lot of lists of recommended shows for k-drama newbies, so it’s a good thing it’s available on Chorki. Kim Bok-joo, a weightlifter, gets attracted to a fitness doctor and is even ready to lose weight for him. However, her childhood friend, a talented swimmer, inspires her to achieve her dreams. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bik-Joo is a coming-of-age sports drama, inspired by the life of Olympic gold-medalist Jang Mi-ran, and has overwhelmingly been well-received by young audience members in the k-drama community.
