The eighth Italian Design Day, with the theme “Manufacturing Value – Inclusiveness, Innovation, and Sustainability,” was celebrated globally by over 100 countries on March 14

In Bangladesh, the event occurred from May 11 to 15, led by Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro and Italian designer Assia Karaguiozova, known as the “Ambassador of Italian Design.”
Italian Design is esteemed worldwide for its quality, innovation, sustainability, and the harmonious blend of beauty and functionality.
This year’s focus was on “Manufacturing Value,” highlighting the Italian tradition of crafting vases for both decoration and practical use.
In Bangladesh, the festivities started with a workshop named “Inclusivity and Diversity.”
A press conference was held on May 13 at the ambassador’s residence, attended by the Italian Ambassador, the Ambassador of Italian Design, and architect Rafiq Azam, discussing Italian Design Day’s significance.
The conference also saw attendance from journalists, art enthusiasts, and brand managers.
Antonio Alessandro highlighted Italy’s soft powers, such as history, culture, design, and artifacts. Assia Karaguiozova shared videos and furniture production insights emphasizing the importance of culture in design.
The official “Italian Design Day in Bangladesh” celebration occurred on May 14 at Edge Gallery, graced by Naheed Ezaher Khan, State Minister of Culture where country-renowned luxury furniture brand Penthouse Livings and other representatives from the same industry were present.
The festivities concluded on May 15 with a master-class on contemporary Italian Design at East West University, including visits to Shilpakala Academy and meetings with local vendors interested in Italian furniture and design.
