The career of architect Shamsul Wares has lasted a very long time, and it has been a varied and exciting one. There are numerous public projects to his credit, like the New Market overbridge, the National Shishu Park, and the Botanical Gardens. But he has also designed many private sector buildings. Factories and shopping malls are also part of his resume. The Udayan school campus in Fuller Road, with its red brick look, is very much a Wares blueprint, though it was later amended with the help of a different firm. Many stunning houses in Bangladesh came out of the Shamsul Wares workbook. They all speak to his aesthetic and practical sensibilities, but more importantly, his desire to make the world a better place.
