rominent Bangladeshi visual artist Maksuda Iqbal Nipa employs the wizardry of oil paint to create captivating, colorful works of art that are rich in texture, and voluminous in expression. Deeply attuned to the human experience, Nipa’s creative journey revolves around the daily struggles, pain, fear, love, and other complex emotions entwined within the realms of mental and physical suffering. From her earliest years, she has keenly felt the weight of living within a system that tends to dominate and oppress women.
Born in Dhaka in 1975, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa received her BFA (Drawing and Painting) from the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka, and completed her M.Ed. in Fine Arts (Painting) from the Aichi University of Education, Japan. She has received numerous awards, including ‘Top Influential Gallery Award’ at the 15th Beijing International Art Expo, China; Selection Award, 3rd Ume Hiroba Haruhi Art Biennial Exhibition, Japan; and International Friendship Award, Amano Hashi Date Art and Craft Fair, Kyoto, Japan (2002) to name a few. She has showcased her work at both solo and group exhibitions in Bangladesh and internationally.
This year, as the crisp tendrils of winter unfurls, Nipa transports art connoisseurs into a realm of enchanting wonder with her solo exhibition Auric Vibrance: The Cauldron of Passion running through December at Edge Gallery. The event showcases some 40 artworks. Within the confines of each grand canvas, Nipa skillfully transcends conventional boundaries, delicately encapsulating the very essence of everyday experiences.
This exhibition promises a harmonious spectacle of vibrations, enveloped within a mystical aura that beckons the audience to submerge themselves in the profound passion animating every brushstroke. A blissful experience awaits, where the resonance of the soul harmonizes with the ballet of dancing pigments.
