Arka Fashion Week Winter’25: A Celebration of Bangladeshi Craft, Creativity, and Couture

By Mahjabin Rahman

This December, Dhaka becomes a canvas for fashion, culture, and creativity as Arka Fashion Week Winter’25 returns from 5th to 7th December 2025 at Aloki, 211 Dhaka 1208, running daily from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. The three-day festival promises a vibrant mix of runway shows, masterclasses, artisan demonstrations, and live music, all woven together by Bangladesh’s rich textile heritage.

Day 1 – Modern (5th December) brings contemporary design to the forefront. Designers like Poushee, Kathal, Daania, RANOW, Grissho, and Royal Bengal Couture present daring silhouettes crafted in hand-knitted fabrics, experimental textures, silks, and metallic accents. The runway pulses with youthful energy, while masterclasses explore bag-making, metal jewelry welding, and modern content creation. The evening comes alive with live music from Modernotaku, Kadin, and Readhwan, blending fashion and rhythm.

Day 2 – Heritage (6th December) honors the timeless beauty of Bangladeshi tradition. The Student Runway features upcycled Jamdani creations, merging intricate weaving with contemporary cuts. Collections from Venori, Kayvo, Gentleman’s Wardrobe, Inteblu, Taan, and Guzel highlight handloom fabrics, block prints, embroidery, and natural dyes, celebrating centuries of craft. Workshops guide attendees through origami-inspired textile transformations, beauty mastery, and photography storytelling, while the evening resonates with Ohyana, JAXXD, and The Brown Testament.

Day 3 – Sustainability (7th December) champions conscious fashion. Designers Canvas, Zuhrah, Shotta, Aranya, Nashra, Denim Shenim, and SOOTH showcase organic cotton, recycled fabrics, low-impact dyes, and upcycled textiles, proving that elegance and responsibility can coexist. Masterclasses on zero-waste fashion, jewelry reimagining, and music production invite hands-on participation. The day closes with electrifying performances by Shibu and Muza.

Throughout the festival, the Marketplace offers a sensory journey through Bangladeshi craft. Visitors encounter hand-dyed fabrics, artisanal accessories, upcycled clothing, and eco-conscious creations from both established names like Ami Dhaka and emerging labels such as DAANIA and Zuhrah. Collective Live performances bring music directly into the space, blending art, design, and sound.

In partnership with Aarong, six master artisans bring traditional techniques to life, demonstrating weaving, hand-stitching, block-printing, needlework, and Jamdani craft. These live exhibitions offer a rare glimpse into the skill and dedication behind every thread.

Arka Fashion Week Winter’25 is more than an event. It is a celebration of Bangladesh’s evolving fashion identity, where innovation meets heritage, sustainability meets style, and every creation tells a story.
